The Diary of Tender Wolf
May 1070 AE (Pre-Searing, lost in the fires)
I begin my training today as a ranger. I look forward to having the ability to fight my foes from afar and have a trusty animal at my side. I think a wolf would suit me the best. I go by the name Tender Wolf because wolves are known to be vicious creatures, but I believe they can be very tender. No one shall know my true identity. I shall always be known as Tender Wolf. And no matter where my travels take me, I will study the art of the ranger with pride.
September 12, 1072 AE (Post-Searing)
My world burned two years ago. The once beautiful kingdom of Ascalon is now destroyed. I must destroy that which took my home from me - the Charr. The vile creatures don't deserve to live. They took everything from me. But the gods clearly believe that I'm destined to be here, as I survived the Searing. One day, I will avenge my fallen friends and family. I will seek vengeance.
September 20, 1072 AE
Two years have passed and nothing has changed. I've decided to aid our dear Prince Rurik in taking the fight to the Charr. Today, I found Bonfaaz Burntfur, but barely escaped before the stampede of furry beasts charged after me. They are trying to take over the wall and Ascalon but I will not allow it. I will fight back.
October 2, 1072 AE
Due to the large amount of battles, I've hardly found time to write in my diary. At Fort Ranik, we managed to push back the invading Charr forces and we managed to rescue prisoners of Surmia. Thanks to the legendary horn that Prince Rurik found, known as Stormcaller, Rin is now safe. But Rurik and his father have finally had the inevitable squabble. I've decided to go to Kryta with the prince. But this will not be an easy venture, as we must trek through the Shiverpeak Mountains. I must prepare for this journey.
October 15, 1072 AE
What a terrible time to attempt the passage through the Shiverpeaks. The Deldrimor Dwarves and the Stone Summit are locked in a never ending battle. We have managed to clear a path for the Ascalon refugees but our dear Rurik has fallen. He said to run and save myself but it pained me to do so. Now I must face an uncertain future in Kryta on my own.
October 30, 1072 AE
Kryta seems to be run by an organization known as the White Mantle. They hold great power here. I have been asked to assist them as Kryta is being overrun by an undead army, and I have proven myself worthy by saving the Mantle’s leader, Confessor Dorian. It seems the undead seek the Scepter of Orr. I was asked to escort the Eye of Janthir, as well as some Chosen villagers, to the city of Loamhurst. But upon their arrival, the Chosen were captured by a rival organization called the Shining Blade. I must discover the meaning of this.
November 8, 1072 AE
The White Mantle are traitors! Upon rescuing the Chosen, I have discovered that the Shining Blade are true allies. Their leader, Evennia, suggested that I go to Bloodstone Fen to see the Mantle's true colors. They sacrifice the Chosen to their gods, known as the Mursaat. I have made a new ally in Vizier Khilbron, but while delivering the Scepter of Orr to him (that I stole back from the Mantle) in Sanctum Cay, I was informed that Markis has betrayed us. And now there is nowhere safe to go. My very life is in danger for killing Justiciar Hablion. I must escape.
November 20, 1072 AE
I have been forced to flee like a coward to the Crystal Desert upon rescuing the Chosen. The Mursaat's Spectral Agony is devastating. According to the Vizier, I must Ascend and have my armor infused to stand a chance against them. I will then proceed to seek an audience with the ancient dragon known as Glint, as she has forseen this whole ordeal. Her information will undoubtedly be invaluable.
November 27, 1072 AE
I have now Ascended and spoken with Glint. She instructed me to return to the Shiverpeaks, go south, and rescue what remains of the broken Shining Blade. Evennia is safe but Saidra sacrificed her life for ours. Her death will not be in vain. Markis has been slain, as he rightfully deserves for his treachery. I must now repay my debt to the Deldrimor Dwarves and help King Jalis Ironhammer retake the capitol, Thunderhead Keep, which has been taken over by the Stone Summit. A true warrior (or ranger) keeps her word and repays her debts.
December 2, 1072 AE
Confessor Dorian is dead, but I fear the White Mantle is not. The only way to stop the Mursaat, according to the Vizier, is to open the Door of Komalie. Behind it lies a source that will be powerful enough to destroy the White Mantle's gods. I journey now to the Ring of Fire Islands to do this. I hope my efforts will not be in vain.
December 15, 1072 AE
That treacherous Vizier! He had been using and deceiving me all along! The Vizier was a Lich who planned to use the source behind the Door of Komalie (an army of titans) to take over all of Tyria. Not only that, but he raised my dear prince from the dead and forced him to fight against me. He begged me to end his pain, and though it hurt me, I granted his wish. The Lich was brought down and has been banished to the Realm of Torment. May he rot there for all eternity.
December 28, 1582 CC (Cantha)
Cantha is a beautiful place. I have journeyed there now that Tyria is safe. It has been overrun by afflicted abominations. I met with a respected ritualist known as Master Togo and I fully intend to help him and Mhenlo save Cantha.
January 6, 1583 CC
It has been determined that the source of the plague is none other than Shiro Tagachi, the Great Betrayer who slew the emperor 200 years ago. But what does he want now? Why is he here? I am determined to find out! I must, as the envoys have taken my soul and will not return it until I destroy Shiro. But first I must become Closer to the Stars.
January 24, 1583 CC
I must now make a choice. Shiro has disappeared from the Sunjiang District but I fear that this is not the last of him. Master Togo has instructed me to choose to earn the respect of either the Luxons or the Kurzicks. They must put their war on hold and work together to face the real threat. I will go to Cavalon and speak with Elder Rhea of this matter.
February 21, 1583 CC
Shiro intends to become mortal again! He must be stopped! With the help of the dragon Kuunavang (who was freed from his grasp), I will stop him! But this will not be an easy task. To restore his mortal body, he must spill the blood of the emperor. And the palace is overrun with his Shiro'ken. We must act quickly! We cannot fail!
February 23, 1583 CC
Though we made it to the emperor on time, Shiro slew Master Togo. But his death has been avenged. Shiro is now dead and my soul has been returned. My debt to the envoys has been paid. The envoys stated that this is not the end of Shiro but he will wish it was. I don't know what they intend to do with him but may he never find peace in the Mists.
April 3, 1275 DR (Elona)
I am now in Elona where rumors circulate about a warmarshal attempting to bring her false god back into this world. I met today with Spearmarshal Kormir, but only briefly before she was captured at Gandara. Koss was captured as well but I managed to free him. I managed to get the injured Sunspears back home to Istan as well. Upon returning there, the elders have asked me to help them rally their allies, the princes of Vabbi, to help their cause. Though hesitant, I believe the help of a stubborn but powerful centaur named Zhed will come in handy. But first I had to help him save his comrades. I also received word that Kormir is alive and being held prisoner in Gandara. With Margrid's help, I will rescue her.
April 26, 1275 DR
Kormir has been pulled into the Realm of Torment! She has been robbed of her sight, and though she is strong, she will need my help. But I must first cross the Desolation, and in order to do so, I must rely on the Scourge of Vabbi, Palawa Joko. I fear the worst with this decision but if he gives me what I want, then there is nothing else I can ask for. Varesh plans to weaken Abaddon's walls at the Mouth of Torment. I must prevent this from happening.
May 5, 1275 DR
Varesh is dead but Abaddon's walls have been torn away. I too have been pulled into the Realm of Torment. Kormir is alive and safe here, but we both must confront the dark god Abaddon here in the Realm of Torment itself. If we fail, it will mean the end of all things.
May 10, 1275 DR
Abaddon is dead but his powers remain. They remain in Kormir. She has the powers of Abaddon and the world now has a new God of Secrets and Goddess of Truth. I shall now focus on my own reputation and work hard to become a Legendary Spearmarshal like Kormir, as well as a Holy Lightbringer. This diary shall end until further notice.
March 5, 1078 AE (Eye of the North)
Years have passed since I returned to my homeland of Tyria. I have been living in Elona among my fellow Sunspears. My goal has been reached and now strange rumblings below the earth have forced me to return home. I arrived at Boreal Station and met two new allies, Ogden and Vekk. Vekk is part of a race known as the Asura, who used to live underground until these great eruptions. It seems creatures coming up from the depths, which Ogden refers to as Destroyers, have caused the Asura to come to the surface. I also met a Norn named Jora, who told me that humans have ventured to the Eye of the North in the Far Shiverpeaks. I shall go there.
March 8, 1078 AE
I am glad that I kept the tapestry shred from my Pre-Searing days. I have reunited with Gwen. She has changed so much, and is certainly not the girl she once was. I'd almost forgotten about her and come so close to throwing out that tapestry shred she gave me. Now she is a member of the Ebon Vanguard. They need my help, but so do the Asura and Ogden wishes me to assist him in convincing the Norn to raise an army. As usual, I get the task of making the hard decisions, but I am determined to help all my new allies defeat the Destroyers.
March 20, 1078 AE
I never thought the Charr had honor. But upon meeting Pyre Fierceshot and freeing his warband. they came to our aid and helped us find the missing Vanguard soldiers. The Asura are constructing golems so I shall aid them next. I have helped Jora and another Norn known as Olaf fight off the Destroyers. Ogden still hopes that they will form an army, but they remain adamant that the Norn do not require anyone but themselves.
April 15, 1078 AE
All that remains is to kill the Great Destroyer. Gwen believes that if we kill their leader, all Destroyers will disappear forever. I hope she's right. Speaking of Gwen, Pyre has stated that fear rots her heart. I can't blame her. She was a prisoner of the Charr for many years. I've had to tear her away from killing Pyre numerous times, but I must admit that even I am very cautious, being a survivor of the Searing myself. Gwen took me to her garden, filled with red iris flowers that she still loves. I am considering allowing her to reunite with her mother, Sarah, in the Underworld after this task is done.
April 30, 1078 AE
All tasks have been completed and the Great Destroyer is now dead! The world is safe once again. I have made many friends in my journeys and I hope to become the highest rank in their alliances. Until I do, my time will no longer be devoted to this diary. Farewell.
